RCA Halloween Celebration CANCELLED Sunday, October 25, 2020 at 1:00pm Rowayton Community Center Come in costume to explore the hay maze, decorate a pumpkin, pet the animals, grab a goody bag, take a pony ride and parade with your peers! The Halloween Celebration will take place on Sunday, October 25th from 1:00-4:00pm on the Community Center lawn. Don’t forget about the Costume Contest run by the Rowayton Parents Exchange! The RCA is always looking for both adults and children to help with this event. Volunteers are needed at 9:00am to set up the hay maze. Please contact Ally Griffin or Matt Fry to lend a hand.
RCA Lights Up Rowayton! Sunday, November 29, 2020 4:30-6:00pm Pinkney Park to Downtown Rowayton Downtown Rowayton will come alive with twinkling lights at the annual holiday town lighting. Festivities begin at Pinkney Park with caroling led by Brien McMahon’s award-winning Holiday Chamber Choir at 5:00pm and the lighting of the Christmas trees at dusk. Afterward, visit the Rowayton Historical Society model train show from 4:00-6:00pm in Pinkney house and the RHS Holiday Bazaar until 7:00pm. Then stroll down Rowayton Avenue to view the window decorations created by local merchants and enjoy a warm beverage and snack compliments of the Rowayton Market. Rowayton Avenue will be blocked off between Wilson Avenue and the Fire House, so please come early if you’re driving. For more information, contact Ryan Still. Annual Rowayton Egg Nog Contest Sunday, November 29 after the tree lighting The best way to cap off holiday festivities at Pinkney Park! Make your way down Rowayton Avenue for the annual Egg Nog Contest! Participants are welcome and all tasters (over 21) are even more welcome. Please join the contest by supplying 3 gallons of your favorite egg nog recipe. All tasters must be 21 or older. To enter, please contact Ryan Still.
RCA Santa Run Sunday, December 6, 2020 at 1:00pm Start: Rowayton Train Station End: Rowayton Fire House Santa will be making his annual visit to Rowayton aboard his big red fire engine sleigh on Sunday, December 8th. He will arrive at the Rowayton train station at 1:00pm and then make his rounds through Rowayton, stopping at the corner of Crest and Ridgewood, Rowayton Library, the Bell Island gatehouse, South Beach, the Beach Association boat house and Brendan’s 101. Children can also visit him at the Firehouse on Rowayton Avenue from 2:15-2:45pm. For more information, please contact Mark Sattler or Chris Sovak. Residents are also encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy or gift card to the Fire House that day from 1:00-3:00pm, as the Rowayton volunteer firefighters will be collecting toys for the Carver Center’s holiday party. RCA Nativity Pageant Saturday, December 12th, 2020 at 6:00pm in Pinkney Park The annual Rowayton Nativity Pageant has found a permanent home! Join us again in Pinkney Park on Saturday, December 12th at 5:00pm. Featuring local performers, clergy and live animals, this family event is a wonderful way to rediscover the joy of Christmas with your neighbors and friends. Volunteers Needed! Participants are needed as angels and shepherds (grades 3-5), wise men (grades 6-8) and townspeople (all ages). Help is always appreciated for the set-up and breakdown of the pageant set as well. Especially needed are any individuals with sound and light system experience. Donuts and coffee provided! For more information on the set-up, contact Christine Smith. The Pageant always needs volunteers to help make it a success. Come one, Come all and Come to the Light!
